An interview with Man 1924

The brand was founded by the Spanish Ambrosio Navares, as a reference of the national textile industry. His creative and entrepreneurial spirit made Navares a real genius of masculine tailoring.

And what it is today couldn't be achieved without the grandchildren of Ambrosio. The heritage where preserved and today the company is run by Carlos Castillo, creative soul of the brand, his cousin Jorge Navares and Olga Castillo.

What does Man 1924 want to tell us?

We met up with Carlos for a casual chat at their stand at Pitti Uomo in Florence. He is dressed as usual in a casual washed linen suit, a t-shirt and sneakers. Along with his beard and his Mediterranean tan he radiates the true essence of the brand.

Carlos explains that a big inspiration for the brand in general and the collection in particular is the way we live now. How we travel, work, having fun and live a bit like nomads. They choose the fabric with much effort and thought to make it easy to wear at every occasion.

For example, Carlos wants to be able to drive to the mountains for skiing one day and drive back to a meeting in town the next day without having to remove his jacket in the car. It will get just the right amount of wrinkles so that it looks casual, but not worn out.

He also tells us about the importance and the effort it takes to achieve the exact right colour for every fabric. A grey that has too much blue or green in it won’t make the cut.

Man 1924 is the perfect balance between classic tailoring and contemporary comfort and the versatile collections makes it very easy to combine in endless ways.
