Article: The Penny Loafer

The Penny Loafer

The Penny Loafer

If we should mention one thing which encapsulate the iconic ”Ivy” look, it would be the penny loafer. Worn by style icons such as JFK, the eccentric David Hockney and everybody’s bad boy James Dean.

Throughout the years the simple loafer were updated with a decorative, fashion-oriented touch by including a strap running horizontally across the vamp of the loafer which will bring us to the name, Penny.

This decorative attribute which got a small opening on the centre of the strap seemed to be the perfect fit for a small, round object, like a penny or so.

But please remember to remove the penny before walking through the security control to avoid be stopped at the airport.

We keep penny loafers in the classic LHS model from the American family owned Massachusett brand Alden, which we at Gabucci think make the most comfortable and good looking Pennies in the world.
